This light belonging to the ‘Turtle-family’ is obviously the smaller brother of the ‘River Turtle’. It was produced by the East German manufacturer Elektroinstallation Oberweimar (EOW), and used in almost all industrial sectors. Its typically industrial design comprises an cast-aluminum body with a spring-mounted ceramic E27 socket, and is distinguished by its splash-proof glass cover with a screw-on protective case.
ORIGIN
Just like its brothers this lamp was salvaged from a former state-owned cable manufacturer in East Germany. It illuminated one of the hallways in the basement of the factory.
RESTORATION
All our lights are restored by hand with the greatest care. As unique piece of heritage, we seek to preserve the light’s authentic appearance. We present the lamp in it’s original finish, or re-finish the light in it’s original color. The lamp has been completely rewired to current standards, and fully assembled and tested to European Legislation, We hope that it may be preserved for many centuries to come.
DETAILS
The Little River Turtle can be supplied with either halogen or LED bulb. Standard the light comes with 2.0m long cable. Other lengths for cable are possible on request, please specify in comments at check out. The Little River Turtle will be accompanied by its passport, documenting the history and origin of the lamp. 110 volt options, US & Canada wiring, and other specialties are available.
