This small light is a Zeiss Ikon lighting fixture is designed by Adolf Meyer, a renowned Bauhaus architect. The entire shade is made of mirrored glass on the inside and lacquered glass on the outside. The mirror reflector on the inside, a characteristic element of the Zeiss production, is capable of amplifying the intensity of the light bulb. The outside is matted with a silver coating creating a real spotlight.
ORIGIN
The Little Hermit Crab was found in the harbour of Rotterdam. This fixture was found in a large warehouse, where it illuminated the space.
RESTORATION
All our lights are restored by hand with the greatest care. As unique piece of heritage, we seek to preserve the light’s authentic appearance. The lamp has been completely rewired to current standards, and fully assembled and tested to European Legislation, We hope that it may be preserved for many centuries to come.
DETAILS
The Little Hermit Crab can be supplied with either a halogen or LED bulb. Standard the light comes with 2.0m long cable, and black canopy. Other lengths for cable and suspension wires possible on request, please specify in comments at check out. The Little Hermit Crab will be accompanied by its passport, documenting the history and origin of the lamp. 110 volt options, US & Canada wiring, and other specialties are available.
