The pure and timeless design that was strongly influenced by the Bauhaus-movement, makes these glass lights true classics. The entire shade of the Hermit Crab consists of one glass part and it has a silver coating on the outside to create a real spot light. It features a porcelain E27 fitting and a small steel wall holder. The lights look very similar to the Zeiss lighting fixtures designed by Adolf Meyer, a renowned Bauhaus architect.
The Hermit Crabs were found on a small Soviet military site on the outskirts of Berlin. These military sites often operated with a self-sustaining structure, which means all facilities imaginable were present at the complex. This fixture was found attached to the wall of a small theatre on the site, where it illuminated the entertainment for the military staff.
The Hermit Crabs is a set of two and comes with:
– Quadloop E27 bulb 60 watt
– 1.5 meter of black twisted textile cable
The fixture has been completely rewired to current standards, and is assembled and tested to EN 60598 directive of European Harmonized Legislation.
