This rare well glass splash-proof pendant light is a variation on our ‘Dragon’ family manufactured by the East German company Elektroinstallation Oberweimar (EOW). The round die-cast casing is fitted with a heat-resistant safety glass and a protective cage. It probably dates from the 1940’s, and belongs definitely to our personal favorites.
ORIGIN
The lamp was salvaged from one of the largest laboratories In East Germany. After WWII this lab was part of the soviet military administration, and became one of the state-owned companies until the reunification in the early nineties. As a group, the Green Iguanas illuminated a small power station on the laboratory complex.
RESTORATION
All our lights are restored by hand with the greatest care. As unique piece of heritage, we seek to preserve the light’s authentic appearance. We present the lamp in it’s original finish, or re-finish the light in it’s original color. The lamp has been completely rewired to current standards, and fully assembled and tested to European Legislation, We hope that it may be preserved for many centuries to come.
DETAILS
The Green Iguana can be supplied with either halogen or LED bulb. Standard the light comes with 2.0m long cable, 2.0m suspension wires, and black canopy. Other lengths for cable and suspension wires possible on request, please specify in comments at check out. The Green Iguana will be accompanied by its passport, documenting the history and origin of the lamp. 110 volt options, US & Canada wiring, and other specialties are available.
