Question

This very rare fluorescent fixture was manufactured by VEB Metallwaren-werk, and was mainly used in the lighter industry of East Germany. It originates from the beginning of the DDR era, and is, together with theRed Deer and the Moose, the oldest fluorescent fixture within our collection. It comprises a cast-aluminium housing with a horizontal bar connecting the two aluminium ends that hold the tube.

The fixture was found in the main building on the terrain of one of the largest laboratories in East Germany. After WWII this lab was part of the soviet military administration, and became a state-owned companies until the reunification in the early nineties. Together with several others this lamp illuminated the rest rooms of the laboratory.

The Gazelle comes with:
– TLD 36 Watt fluorescent light (warm white, cool white, or daylight)
– 1,5 meter matt black cable
– passport describing the history and origin of the lamp.

The fixture has been completely rewired to current standards, and is assembled and tested to EN 60598 directive of European Harmonized Legislation. US & Canada wiring available on request.
