Question

Just like the Barn Owl, this extraordinary piece is one of our favourite objects. During the DDR-era, these industrial lights featured 1000 watt light bulbs, and were used to illuminate objects from great distances. It consists of a enamelled steel-plated housing holding a porcelain socket. The fixture has been featured with a special deco-bulb, the glass window has been replaced, and we mounted the spotlight to a beautiful piece of oak.

The Eagle Owl originates from a small military complex north of the German capital Berlin, where it was mounted to the wall to illuminate one of the large storages. The socket is a ‘slice’ of a wooden beam that was once used for launching ships at a docking yard just outside Amsterdam. The oak is more than forty years old, and we love to see how decades of erosion left their markings on the wood. It has been treated with linseed oil to preserve the oak.

The Eagle Owl comes with a special 40 watt E27 deco bulb, a 1,5 meter matt black cable, and a passport describing its history and origin.

The fixture has been completely rewired to current standards, and is assembled and tested to EN 60598 directive of European Harmonized Legislation. US & Canada wiring available on request.
