This Turtle lamp is a variant on the ‘Baby Slender Turtle’. Similar to its relative, it comprises a cast-aluminium body with a small spring-mounted porcelain E27 socket, but is distinguished by an elevated protection glass. These lamps were produced by the East German manufacturer Elektroinstallation Oberweimar (EOW), and were often used outdoors.
Together with three others, the lamp was salvaged from a highly classified military complex in East Germany. It was one of the places where the Soviet army was able to launch missiles during the cold war. Around that time, these lamps were illuminating the facades of the barracks on the premises.
The Box Turtle comes with:
– 42 watt E27 halogen bulb
– 1,5 meter matt black cable
– passport describing the history and origin of the lamp.
The fixture has been completely rewired to current standards, and is assembled and tested to EN 60598 directive of European Harmonized Legislation. US & Canada wiring available on request.
