This classical lamp shade was commonly used during the DDR era, and originally designed by the Bauhaus movement in the late 1920s. The lights were produced in large numbers by the lighting manufacturer Leuchtenbau Leipzig in order to be used in light industrial areas like collective farms and railway stations. They feature an enameled shade with a bakelite connection box, and come in various types and sizes.

This particular small shade with a stepped dome was salvaged from a large military complex in East Germany. As a group they illuminated the maintenance area for military vehicles.

The Blackbird comes with a 42 watt halogen E27 bulb, a 1,5 meter matt black cable, and a passport describing the history and origin of the lamp.

The fixture has been completely rewired to current standards, and is assembled and tested to EN 60598 directive of European Harmonized Legislation. US & Canada wiring available on request.
