This fixture has been inspired by the notorious lamps that Bauhaus-craftsman Christian Dell designed in the early 1930s. The Black Mamba has a distinctive black bakelite shade and features an extendable scissor-construction, which are excellent examples of how the appearance of the fixture is determined by its functionality. The lamp was initially mounted to a wall, but has now been placed on a sturdy and characteristic socket of Azobé wood.
Together with the ‘King Cobra’ this fixture was discovered at the remains of a German ‘Kunstlederfabrik’, a manufacturing company where artificial leather was produced. The lamp was initially mounted to the wall at one of the workshops in the main building.
The Black Mamba comes with a 40 watt E27 deco bulb, a 1,5 meter matt black cable, and its passport describing the history and origin of the lamp.
