Options
This pendant fixture consists of glass and metal. The black toppart of the Big Dipper used to be hidden in the ceiling, this way only the slight opaline glass and the brass-looking ring were visible. We didn’t want to hide this beautiful part, as it reminds us of the Milky-way and it brings a certain elegance to the fixture.
ORIGIN
The Big Dipper originates from a military site in the outskirts of Berlin. It was found mounted to the ceiling at the theatre of the complex, where it illuminated the entertainment of the Soviet military staff. Many of these military complexes are located around the German Capital, most being built by the Nazi’s during the Second World War.
RESTORATION
All our lights are restored by hand with the greatest care. As unique piece of heritage, we seek to preserve the light’s authentic appearance. We present the lamp in it’s original finish, or re-finish the light in it’s original color. The lamp has been completely rewired to current standards, and fully assembled and tested to European Legislation, We hope that it may be preserved for many centuries to come.
DETAILS
The Big Dipper can be supplied with either halogen or LED bulbs. Standard the light comes with 2.0m long cable, 2.0m suspension wires, and black canopy. Other lengths for cable and suspension wires possible on request, please specify in comments at check out. The Big Dipper will be accompanied by its passport, documenting the history and origin of the lamp.
110 volt options, US & Canada wiring, and other specialties are available.
