This lamp is considered the novel version of the ‘Grey Squirrel’ and the ‘Black Squirrel’. Because of its characteristic design, it is also referred to as a ‘siren lamp’. The lamp consists of a sand-colored composite base, and a glass dome holding a porcelain E14 socket. It was often used in humid places like basements, since the composite and glass character is most suitable for these conditions.
The lamp comes from one of the bunkers of the 5000-complex around Berlin. In the late 1970s, series of bunkers were built all around Berlin in order to increase the defense capability of the DDR. This lamp illuminated the ceiling of one of the chambers in this bunker complex.
The Baby Squirrel comes with:
– 25 watt bulb
– 1,5 meter matt black cable
– passport describing the history and origin.
The fixture has been completely rewired to current standards, and is assembled and tested to EN 60598 directive of European Harmonized Legislation. US & Canada wiring available on request.
