This light is originally manufactured by VEB Elektronische Geräte Dresden and used to function as a darkroom light in a photo laboratory. The Baby Pigeon consists of a metal housing and wall holder with a hammerite finish. It used to have dark glass, suitable for a darkroom, we replaced this with transparent glass.
ORIGIN
The fixture originates from one of the largest laboratories In East Germany. After WWII this lab was part of the soviet military administration, and became one of the DDR’s Volks Eigenerbetrieben until the reunification in the early nineties. Together with several others, the fixture illuminated a small power station on the laboratory complex.
RESTORATION
All our lights are restored by hand with the greatest care. As unique piece of heritage, we seek to preserve the light’s authentic appearance. We present the lamp in it’s original finish, or re-finish the light in it’s original color. The lamp has been completely rewired to current standards, and fully assembled and tested to European Legislation, We hope that it may be preserved for many centuries to come.
DETAILS
The Baby Pigeon can be supplied with either halogen or LED bulb. Standard the light comes with 2.0m long cable. Other lengths for cable is possible on request, please specify in comments at check out. The Baby Pigeon will be accompanied by its passport, documenting the history and origin of the lamp. 110 volt options, US & Canada wiring, and other specialties are available.
