Similar to the ‘Giraffe’ and the ‘Ox’, this appealing fluorescent light fixture originates from the late DDR era. The design and materials indicate that the lamp is produced around the 1970s. It consists of a stretched aluminium housing and steel pending rod, combined with a bakelite connection box and 36 watt glass tube.

The Baby Giraffe was found in the main building on the terrain of one of the largest laboratories in East Germany. After WWII this lab was part of the soviet military administration, and became a state-owned company until the reunification in the early nineties. Together with several other fixtures this lamp illuminated the rest rooms of the laboratory.

The Giraffe comes with:
– TLD 36 Watt fluorescent light (warm white, cool white, or daylight)
– 1,5 meter matt black cable
– passport describing the history and origin of the lamp.

The fixture has been completely rewired to current standards, and is assembled and tested to EN 60598 directive of European Harmonized Legislation. US & Canada wiring available on request.
